Dear Benjy )

((Seriously tho, the whole France thing is me signing off indefinitely. Emmeline will finish school at Beauxbatons and the Vance family will be the Order's eyes in France. Love you guys and all, but I've completely lost interest in online RPing. <3))

Relocating to France? Sure the family's known Professor Dumbledore for years, sure I've wished on nondescript days I could visit France..... This doesn't smack of a pleasurable visit. Things are being packed away in boxes. Grandmother keeps cooing about how lovely the Beauxbatons grounds are, recalling her years there half a century ago...

...France?

And so, because of the gradual but steady increase of the heat and humidity, a great deal of my things have been lovingly folded and put away in my trunk. My heavy cloak, my boots, my scarves, my gloves, my longer skirts.... I mourn their hibernation. But oh well. There is something to be said for bare skin and light clothing.

Good grades on my final exams would be nice.

If giant creatures sporting many tentacles didn't strike me as frightening, I think I'd go for a swim. But no. Maybe I should go to the ocean this summer.

Did you know that you can get 500 stamps for only 3 pounds?

It's my pleasure to say that I've been doing better in Arithmancy. I was a tad worried for a short while, but there is no need to fear, alas.

Why not a survey? )

So, after ages and ages of ridiculous searching, I have found my scroll. I really have Benjamin to thank for being on quite a cleaning spree lately. The oddest part was the glitter all over my bed. I'm not quite sure what it was doing there but I had plenty of help cleaning it up and found that I sported a nice lemony scent after. It wasn't too bad actually.

Quite better than smelling like, well, something else.

((((Gah! I'm sooo nervous. If I'm terribly off, please slap me around a bit.))))

Got home this morning. Originally Gran was going to come get me, but at the last minute Aunt Cindy (who happens to live in Scotland) decided she'd see me home so Gran wouldn't have to go out of her way. She met me at the Three Broomsticks, and Floo powder makes me sneeze excessively so she apparated to home and I was a tag-along. Can't wait until I can do that myself...

Not much else to report. Missing a few people from school, but I won't be missing one of them for very long. =)

Mother wants me home December 20th. I'd prefer just a few more non-family days before Christmas, but this date was settled on after much wheedling. =/ Originally she wanted me home by the 18th. I consider a mere two-day difference a triumph. Twenty days until No Magic Allowed.

Woo. Sixteen years old feels kinda neat. =) Granny Diana sent me lovely dress-robes that she used to own. I don't quite know when I'll ever wear them, but they are really nice. A letter from mother came along with it. (Granny sent everything, as mother is scared of owls.) She says my birthday present is waiting for when I get home, as she likes to see reactions to gifts. I'll be home soon enough for Christmas. Got a carved and painted butterfly, meant for hanging on the wall, from the relatives down in Bolivia. Got peanut-butter cookies from Aunt Cindy. =) I should visit her soon, she's in the same country after all.

I wonder where Charlotte's been? O.o I haven't seen her around.

Know what's good? Onion soup. I wish I had some onion soup.

As if things at Hogwarts aren't in general upheaval most of the time anyway, things have been crazy. Not where I'm concerned, but from what I hear it's been crazy where everybody else is concerned. The drunken Slytherins vomiting in the halls was a bit disgusting, and dodging hexes from Bellatrix Black wasn't exactly pleasant. I only take solace in the probability that it wasn't personal. Also, from what I've heard, it's a good thing I woke up late yesterday. Sure, I missed breakfast, but it seems preferable to what happened in the Great Hall.

Fell asleep in the common room again. Woke up when Amos came in late and trudged up to his dorm. I guess things are crazy with him too.

Hurrah! Andromeda Black is going to help me with Arithmacy. =) I'm amazed I haven't failed out of that class yet.

Bored. Going to bed. G'night.

Damnation. Decided to make some glittens (fingerless gloves that kind of have an end of a mitten to flip over if your fingers get cold) to solve my wearing-gloves-while-writing problem, and discovered I'd forgotten how to knit again. I won't be able to re-learn how until I visit home, which I won't be doing for a good long while, and which I don't exactly look forward to. Mother says she won't have a rat in the house. What will I do with Barnabas?

Tried desperately today to take notes in Arithmacy, which requires the gloves being off. I can't write properly with gloves on. Took notes for a solid forty-five minutes, during which I lost feeling in my fingers. Note-taking for the remainder of the day was a bit difficult. This isn't helping the fact that I'm crap at Arithmacy.

Got a letter today from cousin Phillip at his school in Central America. I forget where exactly.... He was born in Panama though. But anyway, he was just telling me how things were going. Told me how the secret engagement to his girlfriend and all that is going. =) If he doesn't invite his dear cousin to the wedding, she will send them a mildly-embarassing gift. Ooh, he'd better.....

As if Defense Against the Dark Arts didn't scare me enough, not exactly being my strong point! The new professor is a bit frightening. Eek.

EDIT: OH YEAH! And Phil sent me his letter by HARPY EAGLE! >_O WHY must my family have an odd sense of humor? WHY? "Oh hahaha, won't it be funny to send Em a letter by a bird with a SIX-FOOT wingspan!" Yes, how droll. -_-

Subject:B is for Barnabas, Beelzebub, and Ball!

Mood: cold

And so here I am, down in my dormitory, writing in this journal that people insisted I start. It's pretty funny to see people from enitrely-wizarding families who have only the vaguest of ideas on how to use a laptop. I suppose they're encouraging me to be "more social" again, so here goes nothing.

It's not that I'm being antisocial.... It's just that I wasn't aware there was going to be a Masquerade Ball until the very last minute. Truly! If I'd known, I would have a costume and everything, honestly. But, that's just me not noticing things that are right in my face again. Oh well. I've got my nightgown on and I'm in bed already, but perhaps I'll go to the common room in a bit, watch people drift in and ask them how the Masquerade was. They'll probably be tired though. I'll hear all about it tomorrow anyway, I'm sure.

....Hell, I'll go to the common room anyway, I think it's warmer down there. My hands are freezing, it's getting hard to type.

Granny Diana sent me an early birthday present! She spoils me rotten. Mother's going to HATE HER when she finds out that her mum sent me a PET RAT. =) I've named him Barnabas. I think B names are good for rats. I thought of "Beelzebub", but I don't think that'll help Mother's reaction at all.

So long, I'm putting on my slippers and dressing gown and me and Barnabas are going to the common room to greet Masqueraders.
